Leather Lingerie

Ancient man may have worn leather hides for protection from cold weather, blustering wind and torrential rain. But modern women and men now wear luxurious leather lingerie to awaken their more animalistic passions and satisfy their curiosity.

You do not need to be a fetishist or a dominatrix to enjoy leather lingerie, although that certainly might help. All you need is a little bit of curiosity, a lot of cunning and right piece to set the mood.

A sexy leather bra is one way to transition into the exotic world of leather lingerie. These are not bras for everyday wear, so be mindful. Also, most leather bras are usually not available in cup sizes and instead go by letter size: S, M, L and XL.

Most specialty shops or adult stores sell the following types of leather bras, differentiating in style and color (however, leather bras are normally sold in black):

Underwire Bra: This type is good for the leather lingerie novice as it has all the features of any other under-wire bra, like adjustable straps and hook-and-eye back closure
Lace-Up Bras: These leather bras are similar to triangle bikini tops where the strings tie behind the back and at the neck
Chain Bras: These have leather trim with three to four attached chains to cover each breast
Peek-A-Boo Bras: Feeling coy and playful? These bras have slits or holes exposing the nipple while covering the breasts
Shelf Bras: If you want to serve your breasts on a platter, try this bra. It covers the bottom half of the breast, while leaving the nipple and the upper half of the breast exposed
Pasties: These are not bras; they are more like leather breast accessories which are pasted onto the nipple

Much of the leather lingerie sold today is available in sets, with a matching g-strings or thongs.

G-String with Chains: This type of panty may have g-string coverage in the front with the chains attached or it may have no frontal coverage at all, just the chains
G-String with Studs or Rivets: This g-string is decorated with studs or rivets
Lace-Up or Zip-Up: These provide normal g-string coverage, except they have a lace-up or zipper component along the crotch
Peek-A-Boo: These panties have a slit along the crotch

The most famous piece of leather lingerie is the corset. Corsets can be laced up at the sides, on the front or in the back. If you are feeling especially naughty, try a cup-less corset or bustier. The only difference between the bustier and the corset is that the corset is strapless while the bustier offers additional support through straps.

Leather lingerie may also come in the form of a teddy, which is a one-piece undergarment with a thong back.

Leather-Strap Teddy: These are definitely not for the faint of heart. The leather strap teddy is just that, leather straps forming an intricate design along the torso. They still provide g-string or thong coverage, but the breasts are fully exposed
Underwire: These teddies come equipped with under-wire cups
Zip-Up: These teddies zip up the front
Suspender: The straps on this teddy rise up alongside the torso, cover the breasts and then go over the shoulders, much like menswear suspenders do
Garters and Garter Belts: These may be available with chains or lace dangling over the crotch

It is important to take special care of you leather lingerie. Here are some tips:

To preserve the leather, apply a leather conditioner with a soft cloth. This helps with the cleaning process and increases water repellence.

If you do need to use soap and water to clean the leather, use something gentle like baby shampoo or a mild detergent. Harsh detergents will dry the leather out over time. Play it safe and buy cleanser formulated for leather.

When storing, hang your leather lingerie up one a hanger or any other fixture allowing the leather to maintain its shape. It also is a good idea to prevent contact with direct or prolonged exposure to dust or sunlight, so keep your leather in a cool, dark and dry space covered with a cotton cloth or nubuck cloth.
